Its a surface to surface nuclear missile. With this , the Indian security establishment has accuried the capability ti hit targets deep inside China, including Beijing and Shanghai.
The Agni -3 reached the pre set target in 800 seconds, travelling through a peak height of 350km with a velocity of more than 4000m a second. The sucess of Agni-3 paves the way for India to build its truly inter-continental range missiles Agni-4, with a range of 5000km in the near future.
Unlike Agni-1 and Agni-2, the Agni-3 missile has been designed and optimised to carry lighter 200KT thermo nuclear pay-load weapons.
